
Dr. Ricardo F. Cordido is an interventional cardiologist with decades of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered cardiac care while advancing cardiovascular medicine through clinical practice, teaching, and innovation.
Dr. Cordido received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Central University of Caracas in Venezuela. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He then pursued advanced cardiology training at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, Connecticut, affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine, where he completed fellowships in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology. During this time, he developed expertise in diagnostic cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasty, valvuloplasty, and a wide range of invasive and noninvasive cardiac procedures.
Over the course of more than three decades, Dr. Cordido has served the Connecticut community as an interventional cardiologist in both private practice and hospital settings. He previously founded and led HeartCare Associates of Connecticut and currently serves as the founder of Cardiac-Vascular Care, LLC in Hamden, Connecticut. In addition, he directs Congestive Heart Failure Programs at several rehabilitation centers throughout the region, helping patients manage complex cardiovascular conditions and improve their quality of life.
Dr. Cordido has been actively involved in medical education for many years and currently serves as a Clinical Instructor and Cardiology Preceptor for the ambulatory component of Internal Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. He has also served as an instructor for the American Board of Internal Medicine cardiovascular disease review program. His commitment to teaching has been recognized with multiple Department Awards for Excellence in Teaching.
Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, Dr. Cordido is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He has also contributed to cardiovascular innovation, holding a United States patent for a triple lumen balloon catheter.
